Out of the seventeen recipients acknowledged for their heroism across the U.S. and Canada, Jakob was the sole Floridian awardee.When interviewed by CBS12 News, Jakob humbly recounted the moment he sprang into action, swimming as fast as he could to reach the exhausted woman struggling in the water. Aspiring to become a firefighter, Jakob emphasized that he would not hesitate to do it all over again.
