For his selfless actions, Jakob recently received the prestigious Carnegie Medal, an honor reserved for individuals who risk their lives to save others. Out of the seventeen recipients acknowledged for their heroism across the U.S. and Canada, Jakob was the sole Floridian awardee.When interviewed by CBS12 News, Jakob humbly recounted the moment he sprang into action, swimming as fast as he could to reach the exhausted woman struggling in the water. Aspiring to become a firefighter, Jakob emphasized that he would not hesitate to do it all over again. Jakob's story serves as a testament to bravery and compassion, highlighting the extraordinary impact of ordinary individuals who rise to the occasion in times of crisis. His unwavering courage exemplifies the best of humanity and inspires us all to be ready to lend a helping hand when it is needed most.
